Bottle

Nobody really cares about wins from me, because most of the time, I'm expected to win. So I thought I'd make a little twist and post a loss portfolio instead.

Game one: my grey formation, with mud as only drop (replacing assassin), vs. ftw's dropless. Early in the game I go on the attack, sacrificing my mud golem to kill one of his knights. I attack further, and advance my witch as bait. He takes the bait, moving his scout in and shooting it from the front. His scout blocks the side shot, but no matter. I toast the scout with my witch, he heals, I hit it with my knight and block the direct shot to the witch with my knight. He moves the scout away and attacks my witch, but it blocks with +10. At this stage he says "...".

I let it go for now (choosing not to remind him of his vital 30% block), and chase down the scout. I kill it in exchange for my knight. Unfortunately I get overconfident at this stage, and we kill each other's LW. He moves his assassin up along with his witch. His witch blocks a front shot from my scout. He remarks that we're now 1-1, and I point out his witch didn't have +10 and he was forgetting his scout block.

I shoot the witch again anyway. He moves up a knight to try and flank me. I have to barrier my witch (still on 22HP) which allows him a shot on my chanty. I freeze the knight, along with my scout and cleric. I kill the knight quickly with my own 2 knights while he tries to kill my scout. I barrier the scout when it's on 6HP.

Shortly after I kill the knight, I leave a shot open on my chanty in order to try and kill his assassin. He kills the chanty, but the assassin blocks the killing side shot. This lets him hit my knight again, bringing it down to 19. His witch is left on 22HP and exposed, though, so I attack it from the side with my knight. It blocks as well.

Fortunately I still have my other knight, who moves to support the now 1HP knight. I manage the side block with about +92 this time, letting me kill his witch, but he finishes off my 1HP knight. His assassin side blocks again as I take a killing shot, and in order to chase it down my knight is hit twice by his knight. He has a shot to kill it with +52 blocking on my knight. Naturally, it hits, leaving his chanty, knight and cleric against my BW, cleric and scout. I surrender the game and comment that his "..." was obviously misplaced as he couldn't possibly complain about the blocking.

When it's not your day, it's not your day.

Two matches today on my grey account, just randomly messing around.

Game two: First up I get jumped by a 1050 grey with frost, mud, cleric and 4 witch drops. This wouldn't be quite so bad if he then didn't get 3/4 front witch blocks (on different witches). In the end I lost all 3 knights and my scout without killing a single witch thanks to my scout missing a front block and my knights missing 3/3 side blocks. I lol'd.

Game three: So I randomly place my avatar again and get jumped by a 750 default. GREAT. I go on the attack early in the game, aim for chanty. Chanty runs away. I go after the scout. Scout front blocks. I go after the pyro. Pyro front blocks. I move my scout up a bit to see if I can pressure the cleric and chanty. Scout misses side block. I advance my knight a bit further and kill a knight. He targets my knight. Front shot on my knight hits. I lose the knight.

I realise this is no standard 750 default grey. I send a second knight after a pyro again. Side pyro block. He attacks the knight from the front. Knight front hit. I kill the pyro with my mud, and retreat the mud. He overextends his scout leaving it in scout, witch and knight range. I attacked the scout from the side. Side block.

I retreat the 14HP knight. He sends his 10HP scout after it. Side hit (+63). I attack the scout from the side (it has -23). Side block. OH. MY. GOD.

I kill the scout anyway, and then for the fun of it try a front shot on his 5HP assassin, knowing full well the game's over (I have scout and chanty left). I hit it from the front.

I lol'd again.

I ask who he is... it's Rahan. I lol'd a third time. He calls me a noob. I lol again (good fun, these losses). I tell him to be a little more respectful. He says "you banned me from the forum". Well, duh. He broke about 20 forum rules.

He wants to be unbanned. I say that if I do, it's his VERY final chance. Suddenly, he's a lot more polite.

So what do you think- should I unban him and give him a final chance, or should I leave him banned?

Game four: Another loss today, dropless against Gold Jumpa.

He said that he couldn't see how I could use my formation same-side, so I said I would demonstrate. He set up his counter, and we played same-side. Early on he put pressure on my open side flank, but I managed to kill one of his knights that was attacking that side. Meanwhile he changed direction and went down the scout-knight-LW side, my scout had retreated 1 square to avoid his pyro so he hit my knight with his assassin and knight, and ended with a LW strike. I moved up my witch and hit his second knight and witch, he countered by moving his witch up and burning my witch and knight too. I killed the witch and he used his pyro to kill my witch, and I LWed the pyro.

However, I was being pushed onto the back foot. I pressured his scout, and he killed my assassin with it and retreated. This gave me the chance to freeze his knight and assassin, also getting my scout and LW in the process. All I now had to do was kill the scout, and his knight/cleric would be useless.

I barriered the chanty. He advanced the knight, I hit it and he retreated and healed. My knight was also badly injured, meaning that I had to heal too. However, at this stage I made a miscalculation, and his scout hit my cleric. I hit the scout, he healed and barriered it (on 22) and moved in the knight. I could have covered it, but I decided to go all-out for the scout, knowing that I could afford to sacrifice the cleric to get the scout. At this stage he made a very foolish move, hitting my BW with his scout, which moved him out of BW range. My knight had a chance to hit it from the side to win the game (62% to hit). Of course, it blocked.

I barriered again, he killed the barrier, I hit his scout. He unfocused my chanty and I couldn't move it anywhere safe. Going now for pure damage (I still had a slight chance if I killed his cleric, and my knights were not far away from it) I went for a side shot on his scout with my scout. 94% to hit. It blocked again.

At this stage I got fed up and simply surrendered.

Gold Jumpa is pretty good, but I think I showed him just how effective my formation can be same side... when the opponent doesn't get the decisive block to win the game.

Yeah it happens often nowadays when a game is won or lost via the uneveness of the blocking but hey, you win some you lose some.

it always feels good winning a game that is against you block wise.

Bottle, your battle report isnt accurate in all points.

For example my assassin blocked once, not twice and he had +30 blocking i think. My scout blocked, yea, it was really nice, but he was sentenced to death - you remember? I wrote this, you did the same and we posted it at almost same time. Also asked you If i should be happy that your dmw blocked and go dancing And also told you that i admit i am lucky, you probably didnt see, eh? Blocking is random, not my fault... And If you think that "..." is complaining, lol, i have to laugh. It a symbol of helplessness ;)
