Parfait Tourney - First Round
![]() Basic Principles and Rules:
Team 3 vs. Team 2 Old & Sour vs. WE'LL DO IT LIVE! Who Cares? vs. Grumpy Old Gits Team 4 vs. All Around Players Team Winners in green, losers in red. Get your games in by next Sunday. Double d/q's are going to be the norm for this type of tourney unless it is blatantly obvious one person deserves it.

Umm... is there any point asking why you decided to put the two top-seeded teams together in round one?
Come to think of it, did you do any seedings at all? In case you didn't, and in case you want to (highly recommended for all LTR tournaments), I added some seedings to your signup thread for you in the second post. Last edited by Bottle; 07-03-2008 at 11:17 PM. |

Because France were outisde the top 8 teams when the two hosts and previous winners were included; a system I think everyone can agree was outright stupid as 3 of the 4 "Pot A" teams were elminated in the group stage.
As you say, the first round match is effectively the expected final, which is really rather foolish. |

Bottle, but if the tournament sign-ups had to do with Seedings, the teams should have been fairly made with those seedings. The point of the LTR isn't to keep the top seeds at the top, it's to see who's the best player and who's done the best in the tournaments overall. When it's teams, planting the top seeds against the worse seeded teams means that nobody can ever really change where they stand in the LTR, because it's most likely that there won't be 3 high quality lower seeded players on the same team.

I agree with Flash Demon, expecially on this point:
Looking that in your team and in stiv's team there are the best players around (that had to be fairly in 6 different teams as captains...) only the randomly matchups can help the lower teams to have a chance in the tourny |
