The Legends Tournament Rankings
![]() I've been meaning to organise something like this for quite some time now, but I've always been too busy. A recent thread reignited my interest, and now that I have a week off, I've decided to start trying to organise this. The Legends Tournament Rankings system will be put in place and will begin on the 1st October 2007. A number of yearly tournaments will be held as a basis for the rankings, and anyone making their own tournament may apply for LTR Points Status. My intention is to organise 4 "grand slam" tournaments each year, one in each playing style, plus a number of smaller tournaments and a "Masters" event at the end of the year, similar to the system used in tennis. --------------------------------------------------------------- The dates of the 4 slams are yet to be decided, but they will be: 1. The Freestyle Open 2. The Turtle Open 3. The Dropless Open 4. The Grey Open The points given for each Open event will be described below. Each of the Grand Slam events will be open to the top 16 players in the rankings*, plus the first 16 (or 48 if that many applicants are forthcoming) to apply when signups open for each event. Each tournament will be a single elimination style. Should any of the top 16 be unable or unwilling to enter, their place will be taken by those ranked 17th onwards until the 16 seeded places are filled. If an awkward number of applicants sign up, there may be a qualifying tournament or it may simply go off current ranking- this will be decided individually for each tournament. As well as this, the Masters event will be held in September every year and will be contested by the current top 8 players in the rankings (or 9th onwards if one or more are unable to play). All 4 styles of play will be included in a round-robin style tournament. Other mini-tournaments may be organised by the LTR organisation committee and these will have various rules, with some of them possibly quite unusual. Again, points given for these tournaments will be described below. Remember that if you want to do well in the LTR, you will need to at least have a go at the tournaments which you're not quite as strong at, because it is no good winning the Turtle Open and not entering any of the others. --------------------------------------------------------------- In The Freestyle Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) double gold account in any formation that they choose. In The Turtle Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) double gold account, but all units must be deployed on one side of the board (not including the centre column), with a stone golem within 1 space of a corner square, and 4 other units starting in a position such that they can all be stoned without the golem moving. If a DSM or golem ambusher is used it must be one of these 4 units. In The Dropless Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) grey account in any formation that they choose. In The Grey Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) grey account, plus the units gained by a double gold that can also be gained by a grey (one mud, frost, furgon and BR), plus an additional cleric and 3 witches, inany formation that they choose. --------------------------------------------------------------- The LTR will be organised and run by members of a small committee that will be the ruling council for any disagreements or problems with the LTR. There are 5 members of the team: myself, Flash Demon, pils, Xiahou Dun and *ZADICO. The main job of the LTR committee is to decide which tournaments deserve LTR Points Status and to organise the 4 Grand Slams and Masters Event. 1 member of the committee will be responsible for organising one of the Slams or the Masters. --------------------------------------------------------------- A guideline for the scoring system is as follows. Please note that more active or less active tournaments may be given more points or fewer points, according to the discretion of the LTR committee. Points will be awarded once a tournament ends. Grand Slams (64 players): Winner- 200 Finalist- 120 Semi-finalist- 90 Quarter-finalist- 65 Last 16- 40 Last 32- 15 Last 64- 5 Grand Slams (32 Players): Winner- 140 Finalist- 90 Semi-finalist- 50 Quarter-finalist- 30 Last 16- 15 Last 32- 5 LTR Points Status Tournaments (64 Players): Winner- 100 Finalist- 65 Semi-finalist- 45 Quarter-finalist- 30 Last 16- 20 Last 32- 10 Last 64- 5 LTR Points Status Tournaments (32 Players): Winner- 80 Finalist- 50 Semi-finalist- 30 Quarter-finalist- 20 Last 16- 10 Last 32- 5 LTR Points Status Tournaments (16 Players): Winner- 50 Finalist- 30 Semi-finalist- 20 Quarter-finalist- 10 Last 16- 5 --------------------------------------------------------------- This thread will remain open for discussion of the LTR** and pre-signups for any of the Slam events***. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Please note that the first 2 grand slams will be signups only. ** Spam posts will be deleted. *** Please note that you will need to reconfirm your interest about taking part during the official signups, which will take place about 2 weeks before the tournament begins. If you sign up now you will be contacted to confirm your interest when signups open. Last edited by Bottle; 02-02-2008 at 09:06 PM. |

LTR Rules
1. Applying for tournaments 1.1 Grand Slams Each of the Grand Slam events will be open to the top 16 players in the rankings, plus the first 16 (or 48 if that many applicants are forthcoming) to apply when signups open for each event. 1.2 Masters Series The Masters Series will be held in September every year and will be contested by the current top 8 players in the rankings (or 9th onwards if one or more are unable to play). All 4 styles of play will be included. The 8 players will be split into 2 groups, and these groups will play a league-style format. The winner of each group will advance to the final. 1.3 LTR Points Status/LTR-organised tournaments Other tournaments may be organised by the LTR Committee, or be granted LTR Points Status by the Committee (see 3.4), and these will have various rules. 1.4 Signups 1.4.1 Lengths of signups Signups will typically last for 2 weeks in all LTR-approved tournaments. PMs will be sent to those automatically qualifying (via seeding) to confirm participation. Once signups are closed no substitutes or additional places will be permitted. 1.4.2 Qualification Should an unsuitable number of people sign up for any tournament a qualifying tournament may be held to determine the final places, or it may simply be down to who signed up first. 1.4.3 Boosters Players previous convicted of boosting will not be allowed to enter any LTR tournament. The exception to this is those that reset their rating immediately upon request by the game mods and have not boosted since. 1.4.4 Shared accounts It is very highly recommended that you do not sign up on a shared account. Any actions taken by a shared account will be considered to have been taken by the person who signed the account up. This includes any instances of cheating on that account even if you have proof you were not the one on the account. 2. Formation limits 2.1 The Freestyle Open In The Freestyle Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) double gold account in any formation that they choose. 2.2 The Turtle Open In The Turtle Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) double gold account, but all units must be deployed on one side of the board (not including the centre column), with a stone golem within 1 space of a corner square, and 4 other units starting in a position such that they can all be stoned without the golem moving. If a DSM or golem ambusher is used it must be one of these 4 units. 2.3 The Dropless Open In The Dropless Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) grey account in any formation that they choose. 2.4 The Grey Open In The Grey Open, a player may use any combination of 10 units that are accessible by a standard (no drop) grey account, plus any amount of units they gained through unit drops up to the usual game limits, in any formation that they choose. 2.5 The Masters Series In The Master Series, all four of the styles described above will be used. The game will be designated as Freestyle, Turtle, Dropless or Grey before it begins. 2.6 Unacceptable fomations Any player fielding an illegal formation will be disqualified immediately. No excuses will be accepted. 3. Administration 3.1 LTR Committee Decisions Any decision made by the LTR Committee is final. 3.2 Appeal If any player feels that they have been unfairly treated in any LTR-approved tournament they may appeal to the LTR Committee to ajudicate. Decisions made during an Open or the Masters by the individual member of the Committee that is running that tournament are highly unlikely to be overturned unless a serious breach of the rules has been made. 3.3 Cheating 3.3.1 Absolute proof of cheating Any discovery of cheating in any LTR-approved tournament, as unanimously agreed upon the the Committee, will result in one of the penalties described in (3.3.3). Absolute proof includes, but is not limited to, conclusive screenshot evidence and IP logs in both forum and game. 3.3.2 Suspicion of cheating Any player that is suspected of cheating in any LTR-approved tournament without sufficient proof for the Committee to be unanimous upon will be carefully watched for future indiscretions. Should a player continue to act suspiciously that player may have action taken against them. 3.3.3 Once accused/found guilty of cheating See rules (3.1) and (3.2). Possible penalties include, but are not limited to, temporary or permanent bans from the LTR Rankings System, deduction of LTR Ranking Points, or warnings about future conduct. 3.4 LTR Points Status 3.4.1 Application for Points Status In addition to the Grand Slams, Masters Series and LTR-organised tournaments, any member of the forum may apply for LTR Points Status for a tournament they run. 3.4.2 Organisation of LTR Points Status tournaments Any LTR Points Status tournament remains under the control of the forum member that is organising it; however, the LTR committee may be required to ajudicate on any matter that will affect the LTR (in consultation with the tournament organiser). 3.4.3 Upon tournament completion Once the tournament is complete the organiser must submit the final standings to the LTR Committee. A decision on LTR Points awarded to each participant in the tournament will then be made. See rule (3.1). 4. Requirements of LTR tournaments 4.1 Submitting wins 4.1.1 Screenshots For all LTR tournaments, a screen shot MUST be provided for a win to be recorded. The only exception to this rule is if you do not have a computer capable of taking screenshots, which must be reported to the tournament organiser during signups. If this is the case, the opponent will be asked to take a screenshot of either victory or defeat. If neither player can take a screenshot then the tournament organiser will ajudicate. 4.1.2 Disputes If a player disputes a victory report, the tournament organiser will be required to ajudicate. All evidence will be taken into consideration and any party found to have acted dishonestly will be reprimanded under section (3.3.3). 4.1.3 Disconnections If either player disconnects the remaining player will be required to take a screenshot (if possible; see section (4.1.1)) and take note of the battle situation (including recovery, blocking alterations, and HPs). The game must then be continued from the point of disconnect, if possible; if this is unreasonable, the game will either be awarded to one player or be restarted. Priority will be given to the player that did not disconnect if necessary. 4.2 Completion of allocated games 4.2.1 Deadlines Every round of any LTR-approved tournament MUST have a deadline. 4.2.2 Upon reaching the deadline If a game is incomplete by the deadline, the win will be awarded to the player that has shown the most activity and desire to play the game. Should there be equal effort on both sides, then both players may be eliminated or an extension may be granted if (and only if) a time has been arranged within the next 2 days in which to play. If this is the case, any player not turning up at the agreed time will be disqualified. 4.2.3 Disqualification and Activity Warnings Any player that is disqualified for inactivity will be given 1 Activity Warning at the end of the tournament. If, at any stage during the year, a player has 3 Activity Warnings he or she will not be allowed to take place in any further LTR tournaments for 1 year. At the end of each LTR season (in October), all Activity Warnings will be wiped. 5. Miscellaneous Any forthcoming situation that is not covered by one of the rules above will be ajudicated on by the tournament runner or the LTR Committee. See (3.1). This is simply a great idea. I can't wait for those Masters events, I will probably end up signing up for all of them, mostly just for practice at the styles I'm not that good at. Awesome job Bottle.

The Grey Open tournament will be anything goes with a grey drop formation. The only limit will be that you can use a maximum of 1 frost golem (to ensure fairness amongst less drop-heavy players) and no more than 4 DMWs (for the same reason).

AH. I've been waiting for this.
I can't wait for this to get started, and the grand slams and everything to start getting into a groove. If anyone should be hosting/leading this organization it should be bots. But yeah, I will definitely be an active participant in the dropless grey tournies. I might try my hand at a few free ones too, because I'm not terrible at free. edit: Im silly, I read it then I forgot right away... Last edited by pils; 09-19-2007 at 04:52 AM. |
