For example offer him what looks like an easy kill to trap a unit. Nobodys going to run that Knight into your Frost just for the sheer hell of it. But if he has a 1 hit Witch in Range he might be focused entirely on getting a kill and neglect to see that it would lead to his doom. If you get a luck blocky you might even keep the Witch AND take his Knight. Try offering your opponent a kill which will make him lose the unit he killed you with if he goes for it, obviously this is only if the trade of your unit for his unit is worth it. Don't go giving away your Cleric for an Assassin or anythign silly like that.

I also just use in-game chat as mind tricks. Most people do. People usually try to distract you after they make a crucial move, by asking a question that will take up some of your time to reply. I usually just wait after my turn, and then ask them back on their turn. >:]
Chat can be used to reinforce any deceptive technique, as most of them focus on convincing your opponent you made a mistake or they are doing a good thing chat can be used to further convinc them by you playing dumb to their moves when you actually know exactly what's goign to happen because you made it happen. The gift of the silver tongue can sometimes win you games you might have had trouble in otherwise.

Gah can't believe I forgot Feinting. I only used it in the first example I gave in the entire guide. Update.

I enjoyed the read... especially with those sexy bold quotes from who knows. The points were fairly simple and were well explained with examples. I think a selection of screen shots to accompany each section would seal the deal! If ya need any help, azn is here!

Hopefully I can use this to magically help me got to 1600

Buy the book (doesn't cover specifically TAO, like Xia did, but still a good read), or look here(not as much information at the link than in the book, naturally).

A good compliation, Xiahou. You went showed the connection between this game and his meaning very well.
9/10

(and for the people who don't know where he is getting his quotes from, they are from a Chinese General named Sun Wu Tzu, from around 500 B.C. eerie how than can still be used today, in many aspects of life)

In terms of deception, playing with 8 units and an invisible dragon can work wonders.

I think this is a worthy breakdown.

I think, to summarize much of what has been said, give your opponent as many opportunities as possible to make a mistake. The further in advance you conceive your plan, the more obscure you can make the solutions to the traps you have set up.

A very simple yet useful method of baiting (in detail) is by manipulating my opponent based on the way I face my units. Even skilled players go for side and back shots at the expense of defensive positioning. It has won me many games.

Very nice. Reading this book back in January changed my style completely and helped me improve considerably.

Screenshots are a low priority right now If you can't really understand what I'm talking about with my examples and need pictures to help you catch up then the guide probably won't help you very much until you get some more knowledge and experience under your belt. This is intended to be the first in a series of guides and I'd much rather focus on writing the others then editing this one. However once I've finished them all I'll probably come back and make them look a bit prettier. One thing I've decided though is that I should give is a link to the NJ Rush so everyone knows what I'm talking about.

That is very sound advice.

Excellent. Personally, it provides a great ammount of detail without getting too much into the technicalities of unit use.

I don't need to tell you how to use your units. That's something you need to work out for yourself. I'm telling you how to use your opponents moves to further your own goals.
