Spare Thoughts ([strikeout]may[/strikeout] will contain rambling)

This is kind of like a battle report (if mods feel the need to move oh well I couldn't decide), but also discussing luck....so bare with me here.

Well I've discussed tao strategy quite a bit, and I've said before, never assume anything will hit or block, kind of in jest.....but LOL.

So I was on Silpheed using a triple br grey rush and Jax challenged me. I was thinking lol netjak rush for sure, so I played him. I saw a dsm in the center and figured, I was probably going down. The game started in typical fashion. I moved a br to attack his knight and dsm from the side. WHAM! Dsm block in my face, I was thinking, oh god, this is going to be a short game. Little did I know the tao gods had the most insane reversal of fortune I've seen. So he nukes br mud and a knight which forces me to heal, he doesn't move the dsm. I start to physically pummel his units. His dsm ends up getting another attack but I get it down to 1 hit hp so I don't have to worry about it for a couple turns. Anyway...I just start playing to take units, figuring I've lost and it was time to make the margine respectable. I was mainly getting in damage on his dragon and ambusher. I start catching some blocks and making my hits. Overall in the game I got 14/16 for hits out of the blockable attacks I made. I also blocked in the neighbourhood of 80% of the blockable attacks he made. The lowest chances for me hitting were around 45% or so. I spread around hits and made mostly side attacks, and nabbed a key 46% hit on his scout from the side for the kill. He had to focus on my mud to kill it in 3 turns, enabling me to freely attack with other units.

So don't give up in a game, anything can happens. I ended up winning a game by 5 that I should of lost by 5-6 assuming even luck. Therefore never assume anything, like I said.

Needless to say he was a little upset by the end. He tried to handle it in grace, and probably did better than I would have in his situation.

So discuss your crazy luck here. Either bad or good.

I start subconciously playing badly whenever I get disproportionately good luck.

I'd say it's a weakness.

Well I really haven't had that much bizarre luck, but I did miss a 99 percent chance of hitting before.

From what I've heard though, Gypsy is a luck god and so I'm not really surprised by the original post.

one game i had recently was lost completly by luck. i was battling pulpkicker, i was using a dropless center turt and he was using a rush with 2 beast riders, 1 mud, and 1 frost drops.

it was the 1% block ( i had 99% chance to hit ) he got that one him the game, because if his beast rider didnt block it would have died and i wouldnt have lost my cleric and i probobly would have won.

Before the modifier system was added I had a cornered knight get 11 straight sides.

That's nice and insane AoS.

Good game sir never quit good motto as well.

However when I originally saw the thread title I was going to ask you who on these forums you thought of us had enough rational thoughts to be able to spare any of them.

I beat Wayf because of a 1% scout side block once. He was mighty upset about that.

EDIT:

I also had a game where my BR blocked a total of 37 times (no joke, 37 times). Because my 2 clerics saved his little BR booty. It was against some 1600 gray way back when Nitanius Nolund was still gray. Blue moon or something of the sort, don't remember the name exactly.

But yeah, needless to say my BR tanked him on his own.

I was playing Gypsy a while ago; he had a centered, drop-heavy rush, while I had a cornered turt with two clerics and two witches. A combination of my bad playing and set disadvantage made the end inevitable, so I decided that my one goal would be to kill Gypsy's knight. I had brought this knight down to 17 health, after it had gotten two side blocks. So, chased after it, and hit it from the side again, a 99%-to-hit chance. It missed, of course, so I charged in with two other units, and managed to get one last shot at the front of the knight, at 75ish%. Miss. Which proves that Gypsy, as he constantly reminds us, really is a "HaXor!11!".

I just lost a dropless game against a double gold due to 15... (no kidding) beast rider front blocks...
