What keeps you going in tao?
The game hasnt been updated in a long time, seed isnt here, not so many good players and iv been hearing that some people just get bored by playing the same people over and over. Game mods do need to be a little more active, funny its like spammers only come on when mods arent there. So im asking what keeps you going and playing tao?

I enjoy the game for what it is. Who cares if it never gets updated. I've ranted on this subject before. Basically I said that I like chess and chess never gets updated. I like tao and tao never gets updated. Good enough for me.
As far as the people thing is concerned, maybe I don't notice there being a problem with variety of players cause I'm primarily a gray player. It opens my playing field quite a bit. I'm also extremely competitive. I don't believe in accepting 2nd best. Even if there was only one person who was better than I am, I'll keep coming back to kick his butt. Finally, I've got vision. No, it's not just cause I'm a programmer. There are other people who have vision as well. Basically, I don't see the game as a dead end. I think there's plenty of fun to be had here if you just... change the rules. People who aren't programmers do this by setting up tournaments or creating new game playing rules. In my case, I think up stuff like the ladder rankings, which I still need to get done.

Basically i keep going because i still like the game, besides we are all here for the same reason: boredom .
Games were invented to keep your mind away from laziness, to keep it active even when your body is not moving, tao is not an exception. As a side note: If your mind rejects something like a game, it is because its time to look for some other activity, you cant force yourself to keep doing the same. Its the beauty of the evolution...... the life goes on. Last edited by Luzbel; 07-15-2008 at 05:49 AM. |

i agree with brutal
i am not as competitive, it's just that since i primarily play gray as well, and since im only an intermediately skilled player, i dont come across an opponent shortage over the last 4 years, if the game ever got boring for me, i'd take a break(my longest being 3 months). then i'd come back full force.
