Suggestion

This is my last post until summer is over

Mods lock old threads that people necro like it's a bad thing but still allow people to necro them in the first place. Seems like a case of punishment when instead a measure of prevention would work better. Simply put, just go through and lock all the threads that are over a month (or however long it takes for a thread to be considered necroed) so people will not be able to necro them in the first place.

Lets try to get some arguments other than "that's a waste of time." Sure it could be hard to catch up on the whatever amount of threads there have been since but with 4 admins, and like 5 mods this should be very easy, and then once everything is up to date it will be easy to keep going.

You are allowed to necro old threads if something new has come up that can be added, or if something still applies. Useless necroing will result in a thread lock. do you have any idea how long it will take to lock every single thread ever made on these forums (except for the few recent ones)? there are 8,832 threads as of right now. This will not happen and is a quite useless suggestion.

No it wouldn't be easy with 8,832 threads, it's about 981 threads per mod/admin. (Not including recent ones, but if you did, it would still be 900+ threads)

This is kind of useless. We don't have a bunch of people necroing threads everyday, so there is no point in locking all old theads. If necroing was a big problem then something like this MIGHT be needed but it isn't.

there is no point in locking - nobody has to post in any of them and if they do it can be locked if the post is

"yea thats good" after a large time interval for that person had nothing to add

everything is kept open unless it breaks a rule - things aren't closed for simply being completed

Generally, if someone bumps an old thread with a pointless comment, I simply delete the posts and all the ones following it. Then it drops back down again.

I have to do that in cau in spurts. Many times when someone necros a thread the necro a bunch.
