Shoutbox Spam

Okay I did some looking around and couldn't find something on what I'm about to discuss, but if this is already a tired old subject please forgive me.

Recently i've found people complaining and whining about spamming in the shoutbox. I think that if we were to remove the top 10 shouters list as well as the statistics then people would be less inclined to spam and make more posts in the shoutbox.

Right now, if you want to pointlessly shout, go to the legendsforums irc. You can shout and spam however much you want (within forum rules on language and etc). If people are seriously spamming just to get first, they will be warned/infractioned.

I've already suggested that like 4 times, except I didn't create a thread for it. I just asked a few mods and said in the shoutbox. But yes, I think that should definitely happen. Since nothing happened, I doubt they considered it.

I don't see how this shoutbox is useful. I say we close the whole thing down.

I didn't know there was shout box statistics.. Dont really care about it much either... messenger and that IRC thing we have are good atm.

I agree, rick. I don't think we should shut it down, but the statistics are making people spam. It's stupid, though. You don't get anything. If we take the stats away, there will still be spam, but I think there would be less.

When you look at the top 10 shouters and you see that your x shouts behind someone (most likely sina J or Trend) most just spam so that they can get higher up on the list because people think its important.

Excuse me? I don't spam it up Rick learn your facts. I don't split up my thoughts or say hi/bye every time I come to check on the forums. When I shout I get a message across and add to the conversation.

If anybody is a spammer between us, it is certainly you. You say "hey it's quiet" and "why is nobody on" in 2 separate shouts in a row. Was it necessary? No. Will did add to a conversation or make anyone shout? No. So stop naming me when you're the spammer and you are the one trying to catch up to something.
