Report System Ideas

I did a quick scan to make sure this was not suggested before and found nothing

First of all, once a post is reported it should be locked from reporting. Thus the system could not be spammed.

In addition, when a user reports another user once in a day they can't report them again for at least 48 hours.

One last idea, the ability to report should not be for all.

Purple Level - 4 reports per 24 hours
Bold Blue Level - 3 Reports per 24 hours
Blue/Gold Level - 2 Reports per 24 hours
Normal Level - 1 Report per 24 hours

This would greatly reduce report spam if it still exists. I remember a thread where someone went off on people over-reporting, but I forget where that was and who did it. I think this is a viable idea.

When a post is reported it creates a new thread in a private section. If another person reports the same post, it says "Person X has also reported this post" in the same thread. That is why there is no need for any change, no spam is created.

As for your other ideas, the number of reported posts is quite manageable without them. We generally get a couple per week.

Holy bill of rights, Gypsy! If it were a problem just make it anyone below light blue can't report more then one post in more then 24 hours.

I think it is fine right now. The haven't been many reported posts (most likely due to good moderation) so if someone does see a post that should be reported, it should be reported.

I do agree that 1 post can only be reported once, that would help.

it was occurring pretty often a while ago, but now its been well over a week since i've last seen a reported post before today

Whoaa, this is an awesome idea. It would cut down on the number of reported posts and save the mods lots of work.

You should not be usergroup discriminant when it comes to how many times you can report a day Gypsy

Just ban Bl00d. Then you remove the reports drastically.
