Since Omega is busy this month he asked if I would set up this thread again.

Assignment!

We have come to a decision that the assignment of the month will be to create a signature featuring your favorite Anime/Manga character.

Grading: This month the three judges will each be judging on a specific thing while still contributing a vote toward the overall performance. Jonspen, like last month, will be grading on the signatures creativity. Omega will be judging on the renders, colors, and backrounds used in the signature.


While entering, please only post your entries here. I'll set up a SOTM September discussion thread. Seeing as the thread was terribly messed up twice, you can ask questions about SOTM, discuss peoples entered renders there etc etc.

For my entry, I used Kazuma the Shell-Bullet from s-CRY-ed. For strengths, i would say that I did a good job on rendering the image and blending in the effects to make it look like he's powering up his shell bullet. And for weaknesses, the color balancing was a bit off, but I made up for it by lowering the opacity of the other layers.

STrengths:I think i did pretty well on making the backround seeing this is the first time i made one like that and also how i blended in the render.
Weaknesses:i think i couldve done something about the lighting to make it look better.
This is my first time entering so i dont expect to win but gain some skill

Signature Strengths: First off I choose a render of a character that is rarely seen or used on here, which seemed ideal to myself. I also used a Vector technique, once again very rarely used in this fashion. I went for a simple approach, but one that seemed effective to me. I tried fitting the render in a good position, and tried to make the background a simple shade of white/grey to avoid drawing attention. I then put in my vector symbols, and made them blend with the colouring of Sakura for an overall blending appearance. I wanted the symbols to draw attention, aswell as Sakura, and I think the way everything blended in together works well.

Signature Weaknesses: I am not that great when it comes to text, and I will admit it is a flaw for my signature. Also a better border could have been in order now that I think of it, but I'm happy with what I have to say the lease. Hopefully my poor text job doesn't ruin what strengths the signature has.
