What is Freedom? Are we free? What does freedom mean to you?

You've probably seen this discussed somewhere before, perhaps here.

Some always say they are patriot for our country because they have all this "freedom".

Is freedom something that can be given or taken away? Or do we always have it, and is it ethical for people to take away our freedoms; even if it only is to protect us?

In some ways, Freedom is the right to do and be happy as long as it does not interfere with someone else.

Yes I do believe it can be given and taken away, and yes, in some cases ethical to take it away for some people, at least for some time.

Freedom is impossible you cant get freedom unless you a pot smoking tree hugging hippie who lives off in the bush with no care in the world. other than that no one can have freedom. there is always something to do somewhere to be. responsibilties to take

It's a choice. You can choose to do anything you want if you really want to do it.

True that you can choose to do what you wish.
Though I believe you mean within your own human limitations, but what about other people restricting what you are capable of? For example you cannot do much if you are locked in prison.

True. You had to do something to go to prison though. Obviously actions are not without consequence. Of course that doesn't mean you can't perform them if you wanted to. So by taking that action with your freedom you have knowingly chosen to limit your own freedom.

Oh and yeah, obviously you can't like polymorph yourself or something absurd....

So you have freedom to limit yourself, but still, what of other people who set limits upon you without prior interaction of you to them.

For example a random kidnapping on you, and they stick you in a underground box, etc.. Numerous examples.

The real actual freedom does not exist. Having 1 single law makes freedom impossible. If I was really free, I could kill people daily, rape girls twice a day and then rob a bank and buy me cool things.
