Homecoming-Girl Problem
Ok, so despite my normal joking comments, I now have an actual problem i am very serious about and would like/love to hear all the input and opinions on this situation I can, both from guys and girls.
So, this being the scenario. Homecoming is coming up in about 10 days for my school. Now, I am a sophmore and the girl i REALLY like and am head over heels for is a senior. I'm currently not sure if she likes me as more than a friend, or if she even knows that im interested. Because of this, iv been trying to think of very sweet things to do for her to show my interest. Given homecoming is coming up, I thought I'd buy her a mum. Now, normally people only do this when asking a girl out, or when they're already dating. Given I'm not sure if shes interested, I don't want to ask her out and get rejected, I can't just "give it to her", so I must have a reasoning to avoid the awkwardness. Now another thought would be that I could just give it to her anonymously, but the only problem being this. If i do it that way, in no way does it show to her that im interested, although it avoids the awkwardness. So I had to think of another way. Being its her senior year, and my freshman year I had a class with her and during the midst of one of the harder times of my life she was checking up on me everyday and talking me through it, i thought maybe I could just tell her this when I give it to her. "Hey, well, being its your senior year and how much you helped me last year and ALWAYS listened when I needed it and put a smile on my face, I thought I'd give you this as a thanks. And this way you'll have something to remember me by as well. So, thanks". Most of the girls I've talked to have agreed that that wouldn't be awkward and it wouldn't make her feel uncomfortable, but in fact the opposite- that its SUPER sweet. The more opinions the better though. Now, also (yep, more complicated) she dated a good friend of mine for around a month or so, and then they broke up. I don't know who broke up with who, or why, which is what worries me. What if he still likes her and I get her this mum to show that im interested and he picks that up and gets mad at me for doing this when he still likes her. He's not the kind of guy that would blow up on me, but he would just be mad and never really say (also something I don't want). So, this is the situation, and it is something that is VERY important to me, so please respond and post your opinion, but not just something saying "do it". I need feedback and honest feedback too. Bare in mind, the last thing I want to do is make her feel uncomfortable (she wouldn't say if she was, she'd just act like it never happened but I don't want her to go through that) or make the good friend of mine mad. So, I leave everyone with this and hope to hear honest feedback very soon, thanks! |

Talk to your friend before giving it to here genius. (sp)
What is a mum? If you're trying to hint to her you like her, then why are you telling her it's just for thanks? I gotta say, you should just tell her how you feel and hope she feels the same. Senior, freshmen- I dunno. |

Well a mum is a kind of flower, and for homecoming flourists (sp?) decorate with school colors, ribbons, beads, etc. on them. Its a HUGE deal where I'm at. And the reasoning for not just telling her is as explained above. If she didn't like me, it would be very awkward, and she wouldn't act like it is, but I don't want to hurt our friendship.

I saw, but maybe put a note in the flowers?
I see how it can hurt your friendship, but you gotta take the chance. If you don't you'll never know how she feels. No risk, no gain. |

Edit: Your sentence is kinda confusing. I'm getting that she would think of him as just a friend. IDk had a long day. Last edited by vietnamese_boy; 09-03-2008 at 01:54 AM. |

Hmm, thats true, a note could possibly work. It might be awkward the first time I see her, but it might be good and it'll be easier to say what I feel and if people saw me giving them to her people would make a BIG BIG BIG deal out of it. I'll really consider that, thanks
. But at the same time, Flash's got a good point too...hmmAnd suckatthisgame, I did it here because Im not gonna go to some "love forum" because that would just be odd. I post it here because thats what i feel comfortable with. I mean, people post stuff like this on here all the time, or something completely off topic for that matter. |
