Is Abortion Murder in 3001

Invision time machines exist.

If someone has already been born and someone goes back in time to get that person aborted is it murder, since they would cease to exist in the present.

The answer would depend on the relationship between the past and the present when you factor in time travel. In that sense the answer is unanswerable. We would have know way of knowing whether the action would have a direct effect on the person in the future or if the action would just re-write history. Hell, we have no way of knowing whether the future would persist as is, and the abortion itself just creates another plane in time; an alternate reality.

You couldn't really go back in time to do anything...

If you went back in time to do what you said, give someone an abortion, well, if they were aborted you would never have went back in time to abort them, so they would never be aborted, but then since they were never aborted, you would have gone back in time to get them aborted, this would go in circles creating a time paradox destroying the universe!

Well if you go back in time there would be a range of controversial things that would be argued about... I guess it would be murder though.

Fluctual loops! It would not be murder since the person ceased to exist! But it would since it would cause the person to cease to exist!
