Sound problems with my computer
Yo I just reinstalled Windows and I have everything but sound. I'm guessing that I don't have sound drivers and I don't know which ones to download or anything.
All I know is that I have AMD Athlon; the multimedia audio controller device isn't installed properly or whatever. SM Bus Controller as well. I havew HP vs17 monitor and the sound comes out of that because it has speaker built into it. I think I have Legacy Audio Drivers but that's it. Help Oh yeah it's SlipKnoT at Sixers house on Sixers computer. So farrr... Slip > Blue Screen Slip < Sound

first thing i'd try is a windows update - run it via http://update.microsoft.com and choose custom which lists more hardware/driver items
Also, go to your computer manufacturer's website's drivers section to get the drivers for your specific model, and also the sound card's website for that driver reinstalling after wiping clean windows is a pain, a larger pain if you don't have the specific OEM windows OS CD that is specific to your computers (many companies disks are specific to that model) |

i had a similar problem with a graphics card. you're gonna need to reinstall the right driver for whatever your sound card is. you can either crack open your computer and take a look under the hood to get the model and version, or you can have your computer tell you (both are equally annoying)
First, try heading to your device manager: Start --> Right click "My Computer" --> Properties --> "Hardware" Tab --> "Device Manager" Scroll down till you see an icon that tells you your computer has no clue what it's seeing, such as a big "X", or question mark, or "NO YOU!". Glean any information you can from the description next to it. Hopefully it's enough to get the driver from the manufacturer site. Once you have the driver, you should return there, right click on it, and use the "install driver" feature there. If you need more help for difficult cards, let me know. I can google around to find the instructions I used on my graphics card.

Yeah, thanks guys.
I found my support of HP's website. I typed in my model number and all the drivers I needed came up. So the sound's working. much love
