A chat?

I've made a thread about it before and I am making a new one with a poll this time. LF forums have over 5000 members and we barely get to chat/know each other. Yes you can chat in the tactics lobby, but not for long without Gold. Building a java chat platform is, to my knowledge, not that hard and would GREATLY benefit the community.

I'd really be happy to start getting to know more members here and I cant just ask everyone's MSN and end up realizing half of those are people I dont really get along with.

No, MIRC doesnt work, it's lame. You have to download something and login and we all know we're pretty freakin lazy. Having an in-site chat would be simple and useful. *click* you're in and chatting.

You got programming skills? Program a chat and submit it to the forum admins. It doesnt have to be complicated, as long as its not a sucky refresh chat (where you have to wait for a refresh to see who typed what). You WANT a chat, vote yes in the poll!

The more votes we get, the better the pressure on admins to show them we want a chat.

Don't be lazy, please vote (wether its a yes or a no). I know from personal experience that a site chat greatly benefits the community.

That's what i'm saying, I dont just add random ppl to my msn, I get to know them somewhere before. And how do I do that without chatting a bit with them first?

Also, there's nothing like chatting with 4-5 funny people at once. I get good laughs out of it.

There was a chat once. Wasn't used too much. so no point of it.

I've seen what you call a "chat" and it really wasnt something worth calling a chat.

I haven't tried to advertise its presence on the forums, really, but there is a "Chat Now!" think on the www.taorankings.com website. My only problem with it, though, is the fact that it doesn't notify me if somebody is online and talking.

I am familiar with the Java chat client and notifications such as you are talking about is really quite simple. Plus I bet you can add it on to the TAO wrap itself.

Unfortunately, it crashes on some people's browsers. It would suck if you logged into the chat while playing a game and it crashed.

Also, I've looked for notification features, but didn't find any. I'm all ears for suggestions/hints.
