Well very sad to hear about this, i think china has had enough to deal with as it is. 9,000 is a lot of people... Massive overal damage to property and chemical leakage...

yep that's a big one, 100s of miles away, even thousands of miles away felt it

Beijing had a 3.9 magnitude shock wave....also due in part to the epicenter's mountainous location (shock waves travel through rock better than sand)

I hate to tell you, but the chances are so remote that you've more chance of being hit by lightning 3 times, and surviving.

Care to work out just how far away from the nearest plate margin you are?

Shallow focus 'quakes will be all you get. Nothing more than 3.5 Mag. will be common.
