Whilst I, of course, hope that you're alright, I cannot help but feel slightly bemused as to why people choose to live in such areas, knowing the risks that that brings. Like anyone that lives in San Fransisco Bay area. Most stupid place to live. Or the Naples area.

Speaking of earthquakes, there's a fault line that runs pretty close to my house. So maybe in the next....umm....say 10 years I'll experience what an earthquake is like.

Phoenix, there are natural disasters everywhere. Tornadoes in midwest, flooding, forest fires, hurricanes, etc. Some places may not have huge threats for any one thing, but it's always a mix.

Some people prefer to live at their place of birth. Some people are not able to receive a passport to move to other countries. Some people may only receive jobs in specific locations. So they basically prefer to know that there is a risk of a natural disaster and have a job to be able to purchase things to survive, rather than dying on the streets. Other people find it more profitable to live in these places (cheaper homes/rent, higher income, cheaper goods, etc.). So some either permanently live there, or live there temporarily until they get a good start to live in more expensive regions. The reasons are endless. Some people will take it too far to survive. Heh, reminded myself of the Saw series.
