yeah, because you have to write "http://www.legendsforums.com/avatars/5939.gif" instead of "http://www.legendsforums.com/avatars/5939.gif?type=sigpic&dateline=1219069337"
Or you will have to find the correct url to your desired sig.

because you have your sig through the upload tool for the forums

upload your sig to imageshack or tinypic.com, then post that image as an image in the post-like box above the sig upload box, which is effectively disabled
