When a new forumer signs up he has the option to say who referred him to the forum (ie. who gave him the link to LF). The number of referrals you have is the number of people that put your name down in that box.

Thats odd...I never referred anyone. My one friend I referred just plays TAO and doesn't have an LF account. Oh well, thanks!
