Yeah, it really does work well. But getting signed to a team as a rookie is nigh on impossible until the off-season (which starts next week!). By all means sign up, make a forum post, whoring yourself out, and see if you get offers. But don't sign with the first team that comes along - wait and see if they're good, if the offer's good and if you'll get play time.l You level up faster if you're a starter, remember?
For example, no use a Lv 4 HB playing in a pro league, because you'll enver see pitch time. Everyone else will be mid 20's.
And don't forget - making a WR/QB/HB is a massive risk and may not get signed unless you plan to spend money on the game and boost their levels up. They're also the most expensive positions to boost (300 FP per level, 3 levels per season).
For those who are joining now, create your character, boost him as much as you can afford to (to a max of 3 levels), then next week, get yourself signed to a good team that will start you, and boost on day one of the new season, to get your level up to Lv 7 before you've even played a game!
