Vasland: A Project
For my Civics project, I'm going to try this out here. We did a version in class, so I thought I'd make it my project.
Here's how it goes: You sign up here. Wednesday, at 6:00 EST, we begin. Sign up here with your country, and desired name. Create a small constitution with basic rules, a flag if you can, and your preferred type of government: Democracy Republic Communist Totalitarianist Dictatorship Oligarchy Aristocracy You may team up with someone. This will be updated. |

How does the game work? Once we make our own country, do you create scenarios and we have to act accordingly?
Name:Fortunatus (Fortunian) Government: Oligarchy I know mostly nothing about governments except what I learnt from Civilization(sp?) games. I read abit about Oligarchy on wikipedia though and sounds interesting. Not sure what else to give as I don't know the rules or settings of the game. :S If it is allowed abit of info about my government. It's ruled by the select of the Media, Business and Military community. Mainly a trading country at the moment so while the commitees are to make desicions as equals, the Business commitee holds the most sway. They elect a figure head who is given the position as leader of the country, even though the commitees really rule. That's as much detail as I am willing to go into, don't want to write lots and find it's not happening. ^_^ ![]() Nice simple flag. I mean, who wants a flag no one can draw? O_o ;P EDIT: Rules: Leader: The leader is selected by the three commitees to be their representative to the people. The people know the commitees rule the land, but the leader is usually a high member in one of the commitees. Law: There are judges who are selected by the Media and Business and in a smaller sense the Military commitees who rule the courts and pass down the law. Death penalty is only given for treason against the country. There is usually a high punishment for robery and murder. The rest is much like what we have now. The Military governs is self. Tax: The people are taxed around 20% of their pay. Business are usually taxed heavily, this is to make it hard to start a business without the Business Commitee's help. Army: The countries army is voluntary, but run much like a business. Promotions are done through personal merit. The Military Commitee also runs afew mercenary coporations that hire out men as protection for people and business'. The army is quite well trained and get a nice pay. The mercenaries are better trained as individuals. But are not trained for organised war, are used for protection and in skirmishes. They tend to get paid more but my be called into service for the countries army without a pay increase. First encounters with other countries, will be met with ambassadors from the Media Commitee. Usually to try and secure peace treaties with trade agreements. Also Media and Military agents enter the country and try to find out as much about them, and their culture. Military will then find out and judge their armies strength while the Business commitee will send traders to judge their resouce potention, along with the Media agents maybe try and find people who could be easily bribed for greater trade or military advantages. The commitees all need each other and while one may be more powerful than the two others, they can't do much with out the others. Thanks for helping out what to write mayo. The game is played like so:
Once per day, an issue is present. If more than one person has a similar situation happening, they share the problem. An example: Funding for _____ has left you much less money than needed. Troops at home are getting frustrated, and some have quit. A) Stop funding on _____ (200 Units in the long run) B) Attempt to reason with Troops, saying it will be over soon. Promise raises. (100 Units) C) Ignore Troop loss (Free) Your next post will have an answer in it, either A, B, or C. The loss of units will be instantaneous. You have three variables: People You begin with 1,000. Each Person must have one Food per three turns to survive. A percentage of casualties will occur if you do not have sufficient funds to buy 1 Food for everyone. The formula is equal to a 5% loss of money for every 50 people lost. Units The money source. Used to make decisions. May be gained through happening occuring throughout the game. Your income is how much you make every three days. Beginning income is 2,000. Food Every Person must have One Food every three days, else some will die. Every decision either costs you, or gives money in the long run. Remember: One the game begins, it takes a week to change your constitution. Monarchy is fine. |
