I don't think it is overpowered at all. Think about it. The stone golem is more useful and has a pyro-like attack. I like the idea of a unit that can make other units stronger vs melee and weaker vs magic and successful side and back hits. Take the stone golem, increase range by one, keep pyro-like attack area, keep movement range and wait time. Let 'em free at 100% front, and 50% side, but weaker armor.
