quake mage
i did this unit a while ago on the fps server forums. comments, or suggested changes would be appreciated. also, perhaps a more creative name could be made.
quake mage Renowned in the human ranks, the quake mages are destructive and can cause chaos to their enemies. They send off a blast through the ground with their staffs, causing entire armies to fall and to hurtle backwards into their own ranks. Generals are wary of all who possess the services of a quake mage, and will send many to their doom to destroy the mage. hp:30 power:-- armor:-- blocking:25% recovery:3 movement:3 recovery: 1 movement, 2 attack, 3 movement and attack range:4 straight, 4 diagonal attack: sends shockwaves through the ground when hitting it with its staff, pushing enemy units in its range 3 squares away from the mage. If another unit is behind an enemy unit being attacked, the enemy unit runs into the unit and stops, and both units get 10 hp of damage. breaks focus. whoa - so basically all it does is blow everything back and give it 10 damage
it would be too uber powerful if it got into ememy territory, especially a turt, blasting the entire setup apart pushing and moving units has never been a cau type that ive liked, and this is one of the reasons why - try playing the game when every 2 turns you get blasted 3 squares away by this beast also, on on offensive note, this could be used to launch the biggest all out offensive ever made - way to powerful in that sense - it does way too much no moving other units - its a nono |

although its a creative idea, its been done to push units back, and this would be overpowered attack, since it can empty the whole area, and underpowered stats, although that might make it seem balanced, it isnt, because it isnt too good of an idea, but if you keep putting time into CAU ideas, a good one will come out soon enough ;)

Also because of the way movement is handled in tao your angled push is a bit too far, but ya you could explode an entire formation with this unit, which is a bit much.

You guys have an amazing ability of not reading.

I would totally use it to knock units in Recovery (back) into range of my LW and/or Enchantress. Moving units against their will and against the plans of their controller is powerful, but seriously, it does, at most, 10 damage to 2 or 4 of your units.
The only gripe I have is the diagonal movement thing. Shorten it to 2 diagonal movement so it's in line with the entire TAO philosophy of space-time, make it a bit more survivable, and you'd have a damn fine unit. Right now, it loses a point for creativity (quake mages have been done lots before; unit-moving shockwaves have been done before), two points for balance (the diagonal movement thing and the fact that it's so easy to kill when it does relatively little in terms of actually winning the game) and a point for tactical considerations (it's a one-trick pony and it's trick isn't that great when it'll get killed before it can either escape or activate it's trick a second time.) 6/10.
