Earthen Sentry
This lightly-armored soldier moves quickly through ally lines and summons earthen weapons and armor when enemies are encountered. They were recruited into the Arena to protect weaker fighters.
The Sentry/Guardian begins the match as an Earthen Sentry and can switch in between the two via special attack. Earthen Sentry HP - 46 Blocking - 44% (summons stone wall which crumbles when the attack hits) Movement - 4 Recovery - 1 Special: Gaia Summoning In attack phase the Sentry uses its special attack to summon a giant earthen scimitar and mantle. Earth Guardian Attack - 25 Range - 2, single-target (LOS applied) Armor - 30% Blocking - 88% Movement - 1 The Earth Guardian cannot move further than 3 spaces from the point of the Gaia Summoning. Recovery - 2 Special: Gaia Restoration The Earth Guardian returns to Earthen Sentry form. Extra Notes: • Damage done to the Earthen Sentry is transferred to the Earth Guardian and vis-versa. • The Earthen Sentry allows friendly units to pass. • The Earth Guardian does not allow friendly units to pass. • The Guardian loses all armor upon switching to Sentry, including armor bonuses from other units (Stone Golem). • The Guardian is converted back to a Sentry when it is struck by a sky-based attack (Lightning Ward). • You can’t have more than 1 Earth Guardian on your team at any time. There is no limit to the number of Sentries, however. A Sentry will not be allowed to use Gaia Summoning while there is another Guardian on your team. • The unit's turn ends upon transformation (to avoid the confusion of stat changes mid-turn) Please tell me how I can balance it out. ~FD~ Last edited by Fate's Decision; 02-28-2008 at 05:40 PM. |

This is a fascinating unit, and one that bears investigation. As a Sentry, it can zip up to flank an opponent, with iffy blocking and decent HP to help it survive. (If stoned, your only fear would be an enemy Frost.) Then, once entrenched in your opponent's backfield, it can go Guardian and slowly but surely mulch through your opponent's backfield.
The only problem is that one movement and two recovery: it's just too slow! Anything except a mage that just cast can get away from the Guardian without much issue. Essentially, it's like a mobile Lightning Ward in that respect: you use it to set up a radius of rather unkillable threat that your opponent is likely to clear out of and leave alone, because you're not going to stand up to an Earth Guardian terribly easily. I would reduce the recovery of the Guardian to 1. I think, at that point, it would be a solid, if challenging-to-use, unit. 3/4 balance, 4/4 tactical considerations, 2/2 creativity. I like this unit!
