Legalize marijuana?
Well, I'm sure all of you have heard about California's recent steps towards the consideration of legalizing marijuana.
I would like to know what you guys think about it? I was to hear from people from all kinds of backgrounds and arguing both side of this. I'd like to hear from objective parties that are not directly going to be affected as California resident will. If you havn't heard, California is considering this and there are hundreds of websites about it. poke around and let me know what you think of the situation. |

Yeah, sure.
Why don;t you just stop suppressing alternative fuels and kill off the oil industry as well as the textiles industries.....

I'm sure they could find some extra income somewhere other than taxing marijuana. It's a desperate plea for help, because they're too stupid to come up with something themselves.
Btw, the rumors have been gone around for a while and nothing's happened on it.

I live in Canada, it's not a big deal here. Might as well legalize it.

its a lot more than rumors dude. it is being actively discussed, and with Arnold not being able to run again, he has said he welcome open debate on the subject. he has been attacked so much by the politicians here that i think he is fed up and has given up on trying to change things. if they hadn't had his hands tied, we wouldn't have gotten into such a situation.

I know it's not rumors, I worded it wrong, they have been discussing it, but it seems to be a longshot to actually be approved. Especially since it'd be the first state to do so, and only a couple other places have it fully legalized (Holland, for example, but none of the rest of Europe. Maybe illegal but ignored in some places, but still illegal)

It's a dumb idea. Not because they are legalizing it, but because they plan on taxing it.
Seriously, who do you think is going to head over to Walgreen's and buy a gram when they can still go to their dealer and get it cheaper? Weed is always going to be bought and sold by the dealers like it is right now. Making it legal just means the smokers don't need to hide it. |

How do you know that when you are going to a dealer it is going to be cheaper? How do you know what the dealer is giving you?
Take a history lesson. When prohibition was instituted in the early-mid 1900's, prices rose, illegal activity rose, and consumption rose. People had to be careful on what they were receiving, because half the time it was either extremely potent or had other chemicals in it. Prisons became overcrowded with harmless individuals that just wanted to drink. Think about the positive consequences of legalizing marijuana. 1. Potential revenue for the state. 2. Prisons being less crowded/more room for more dangerous criminals 3. Less crime in terms of illegal dealing 4. Regulation over the prices/what is inside of it.
