Dropless wins.

I pride myself at being moderately skilled at dropless grey, especially against other dropless greys. I'm also one who just puts down my piece, and lets whoever jump me that wants to. This leads to all sorts of games, mostly from noob golds, to noob greys.

I usually get jumped by someone who has a few drops, maybe a mud and a beast, or a frost and a mud. I figure they are underestimating me when they see I don't use any drops. They make for fun games, usually the person rushes in with their mud, I take turns to heal and kill it with no real damage done to me, and them already down a unit...and so on.

Occasionally (more frequently than I would like) I get jumped by people like RAHAN. People who are skilled in using the countless drops they have. I play the game, I might even make a jab at how they probably suck at dropless game as I am currently getting my ass kicked by their drops. (RAHAN actually agreed to play me dropless, which he did, so props to him. He lost.)

So just now I was jumped by gandal. I'd never heard the name before, so I stat it. Great, a 1638 grey with two frosts, two clerics, and a mud for drops. I at least lucked out that it was same sides. I start by LWing his LW, as I tend to do when I don't feel like rushing into a turtle with two frosts. I have a pyro and a DMW, and we end up trading LWs. However, he brought up one of his frosts to freeze my LW to do that, and despite the presence of his two clerics, felt it was more prudent to attack one of my knights than to heal. So I kill one of his frosts in exchange for having one of my knights nearly dead.

While I was killing his LW with my mages, I made sure that his mud was in the crossfire. He the used his mud to jump into my turtle and sucker punch my cleric. I killed his hurt mud with one of my knights. His scout couldn't target my cleric, so there he sat hurt for awhile. My next move was to make sure he didn't go on the offensive, and to kill his last frost. I start moving up my scout and pyro, while my hurt knight blocks a side hit to save him. He had just used his frost to freeze my hurt scout, so I hit it with my scout. Because my knight blocked, I walked up and smacked his frost with it...But enough of these boring details, onto the end game.

My knight blocked what I think was a 99% chance to hit, which I was surprised at, and which probably won me the game earlier, but after he was obviously killed by a front hit :

It ended up with my cleric, chanty, knight, BW, and scout. Vs his paralyzed knight, a 17 HP knight, and a full scout. I obviously had the advantage and he surrendered. It was a very enjoyable game, not a word said between us.

Impressive,I can barel beat 1100+ players with dropless. good job.

We need to play dropless again sometime soon... I'm not quite "in my prime," but I'm sure you'd like to get some revenge, from our last bout. Not to mention I don't play FPS much at all, and a good dropless game on legends is rare.

My biggest scalp with a dropless formation was asrafas (rated 1676 at the time), with him having dual clerics, frost, and furgon.

Why would I be jealous of a game that would have ended in a 2 unit win for him when I have one over the same player but with 7 units intact and no way for himto kill another?
