Spamming

Recently there has been a large increase in the frequency of posting by certain members that are "racing" each other to a certain post count. We've also had a lot of reported posts with a reason of "spamming". We are currently extremely generous with this issue, and recognise that threads can go off topic while still providing intelligent discussion. In the forum rules it states

and therefore warnings/infractions/bans will only be for repeated spamming with single-word posts or maliciously large posts.

However, the post whores are people that are obsessed with the numbers next to their name. If you feel someone is constantly dragging threads off topic and spamming nonsense, then use the reputation system to neg them. That will hurt them far more than reporting their posts, because they will usually care about that reputation number.

Bear in mind that reporting posts is designed for posts that break forum rules, found in the announcement at the top of every forum section.

Well done. I don't ever spam post, hence you can see my post count. I'm not that much of a negger, but I will neg if it gets out of hand.

I've done enough to start this, and I'll do all I can to stop it. It has seriously gotten out of control. Fine, one day, get warned, but not weeks and weeks worth. It is over.

I think that a week ban could solve this so quickly. That's the reason ebcause I stopped

I think the reputation system message will be more effective than an infraction. If they care about numbers, let's reduce one of their numbers.

But reputation is not important when you reach blue, they just could care for the "purple name".

That could take so much time, Anyway I think you can still have blue name no matter if you have 4 red boxes, I'm not sure but Reputation is not the way.

What about infractions of 10 points.

The fact is that there is no forum rule being broken here. It's a forum; we discuss things. Whatever things we like. But if you don't like what they are discussing, or indeed how frequently they are discussing it, then USE THE REP SYSTEM.
