Dear TAO Community,


I have decided to write this open letter to you, not only for your benefit, but for mine as well. I love this game and community as much or even maybe more than most of you do. I stand to lose a community and many great friends over the matters and situations that have befell TAO in the past few weeks. Please read this open letter fully and give a responsible and sincere reply. I am not in the mood to read 10 pages of 1 line posts, that is not the reason I have made this post.

Without further adieu I will get to the points and the facts that I wish to present. I will give advice, as well as information on many subjects.

1.0 In Game

1.1 Seed

As you should know, Vito Sze (AKA Seed) is the creator of the game TAO. Seed has been away from TAO for quite some time now, and was supposed to return to do anniversary updates for us in October / November. That did not happen. Omegashin and Prophet have been in intermittent contact with Seed and were told that he was supposed to return to do the updates for Christmas time. The updates were started, but not completed. Seed was then contracted by another company to help them with another project. He let Omegashin know, and told him that he would be returning to work on TAO at the end of January. Seed has not answered anyone's emails.

My first plea from you is to be patient with the LF and in game staff. We do not know very much right now, and are being upfront with you. Please do not ask us when Seed will be returning because our guess is as good as yours. He should be returning soon.

1.2 Password "Cracking"

There have been many instances in the last 72 hours of people spamming the passwords of major accounts in the TAO lobby. There is an informal list created in "On Topic." Fingers are being pointed with little or no proof. If you are creating new accounts, please use a secure password with capitals, lowercase, and symbols such as: Ofw@9s)dK This will ensure your security. If your password is cheese or moo count on your password being guessed by someone.

This next point I cannot emphasize enough so I will bold, underline, italicize, capitalize, color, and change its size.

DO NOT SHARE YOUR PASSWORDS EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE NO MATTER WHO IT IS WITH.

They may pretend to be your friend on TAO, or whatever, just don't do it.

So I plea to you:

If your account has a weak password, email Seed at v2c@digisonline.com and he will change it when he returns.

Do not send your password to ANY email other than v2c@digisonline.com

Never give out your password to anyone, if you have, get it changed.

If you are creating a new account, use a SECURE password.


1.3 Account Upgrading

The account upgrading system is currently DOWN

Do not come onto the forums or game spamming or making new threads about your TAO account isn't upgraded yet. You are not alone. Your account will not be upgraded because Seed is not around right now. The automated upgrading system that was in place no longer functions properly. All I can tell you is to be patient. You are not paying for a gold account, you have merely donated to Seed, and in return he should give you a gold account. Do not make claims saying you will sue him. It just wont fly.

I plea to you once again:

Do not demand an upgrade from the TAO staff, there is nothing we can do.

Have some patience, Seed will return, he is receiving bills constantly for the hosting of the website and server, he hasn't forgot about TAO.


1.4 Respect

I am not asking anyone to like anyone, personalities conflict, get used to it.

I am merely asking all of you for some common decency. Do not make clans with racist or derogatory names. I don't need to give an example.

• 1.41 Spamming:
  
  Is it that much to ask for you guys to have communal accountability. There cannot be a moderator on at all times. It is nearly impossible. If you see someone spamming, kindly ask them to stop. Remind them that they are not doing anyone any good by spamming, and they they are merely wasting their own time.

• 1.42 Game types
  
  You all know what a turtle is, what an anti is and what a rush is, if you don't, ask for clarification before the game begins.

2.0 Legends Forums

2.1 Second Accounts

You are not allowed to have more than one account on these forums. It is that simple. If you are banned on one account, and you create a second to get around the ban, you will be IP banned. Not much more needs to be said.

2.2 Infractions

You have already been warned by the forum rules. I will not repeat them. You will be issued one warning via the infraction system. Upon a second offence you will be given 5 or more infraction points. The points start to add up as you keep violating rules. At 50 points you will be banned. End of story. Is it that hard to follow the rules? I mean seriously....

My plea is that you actually listen to what the staff tells you. I ALWAYS get replies to my infractions saying "oh, I was warned 3 weeks ago my signature was too long, but I forgot why did you give me an infraction this time?"

2.3 Reporting Posts

Moderators and Administrators try to read most threads and posts on the forums, but that is impossible. We have given you, the community member the ability to report posts that you believe break the forum rules. You are not, however, permitted to report posts just because the person gave you a negative reputation or because you dont agree with them. If you do so, you will be warned and then possibly infracted if you persist. We take all reported posts seriously and the staff checks up on every single one, dont take the feature lightly.

2.4 Reputation

The administration decided that there are to be no discussion on the topic of reputation. It is just a number. Take it with a grain of salt. I dont want to hear you whine if someone gives you a negative reputation, if they did, think, why did they do it, and then if you think that they may have had reason to do it, take it into account next time you post. It is not a competition, but it is a popularity contest. Please dont get too angry about rep or post counts, it is a number on an online forum.

I plea that you dont get your panties in a bunch over reputation, and that you try to improve yourself based on others' criticism of your posts.

2.5 Spam

I will keep this simple:

I plea to you, think about if posting will further the thread, then type your post, then before hitting submit, think again if you are REALLY going to help the thread. Post count is another one of those numbers on an online forum that no one really cares about. Are you going to brag to your friends at school that you made 200 posts in one day once?

Conclusion

I will end with a quote from one of my favourite and one of the most eloquent speakers of the 20th Century

My dream is to have this community become more cohesive and work together to help each other become better people and citizens of this earth.

I also am aware that those who read or reply to this thread aren't ALWAYS those committing the violations that I speak of, but hopefully some noticeable change will be spurred by this.

well this a great thread and first off i would like to say thank you
its cool that there has been some contact with seed in the last year, and thats enough for me to still have hope in that all will be ok soon enough

i can only hope that people that people will take this to heart when it comes to spam, rep, reoprting posts, and all the other issues you have covered.
but i gotsta say that at the end you got a lil sappy with the "i have a dream ting" ;)
and i had no idea you were that young =P you act like your 20+

Ya... if I didnt post a picture of myself, I bet I could convince atleast half the forum that I was well over 20 years old. In fact I am only 17 (and I could pass for a 13 year old with not much difficulty).
